Sandy graduated from Randolph High School in Randolph, Minnesota in 1972, and attended Mankato State University.

 

She has been a member of The American Legion Auxiliary for 17 years, Unit # 144, Highland Springs, VA. She has held many offices and chairmanships, including Vice President. She was awarded Lady of the Year in 1992.

 

Sandy became a Dame of La Societe de Femme Cabane Locale 977 de Virginia in  January 2000, eligible through her husband Mike Wood. She has held various offices and chairmanships in her Cabane Locale, including La Conducteur, La Sous Presidente, and is currently serving her third term as La Presidente.

 

Sandy has served the Grande de Virginia as: La Grande Drapeau, La Grande Aid de Voiture, La Grande Sous Presidente (2 terms), and is currently serving her second term as La Grande Presidente.

 

Sandy has served Nationale as: La Alternate Cheminot Nationale, La Cheminot Nationale, and La Aide de Femme to La Presidente Nationale Eleanor Harris. In 2006 Sandy had the honor of assisting La Presidente Nationale Passe Berta Henderson in the wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unkowns at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.

 

Sandy has worked for AFG Glass Corp for 27 years as the office manager. Her and her husband Mike make their home in Richmond, VA.
